An Autumn full of pilgrims! 35,602 pilgrims took the Compostela during the month of October!

The numbers represent a considerable increase of pilgrims compared to the 31,341 Compostelas of 2018 and the 26,600 of the last Holy Year 2010.

Throughout the month of October the figure of 300,000 pilgrims with Compostela was exceeded.

Of the 35,602 pilgrims who took the Compostela in October, 18,118 (50.89%) were women and 17,484 (49.11%) men. Most of them traveled the Camino on foot 33,395 (93.80%), by bicycle 2,046 (5.75%), on horseback 111 (0.31%), sailing 1 (0.00%) and in a wheelchair 49 (0.14%).

Regarding nationalities, it is worth mentioning the much higher presence of foreigners: up to 69% (24,564) of the pilgrims who took their Compostela were foreigners, the remaining 31% (11,038) corresponding to Spaniards.

The nationality with the highest number of pilgrims in October was Germany with 3,498 pilgrims (14.24%); followed closely by the United States with 3,104 (12.64%); Portugal with 1,848 (7.52%); Italy with 1,836 (7.47%); France with 1,186 (4.83%); Canada with 1,170 (4.76%); United Kingdom with 1,152 (4.69 percent) and Australia with 1,082 (4.40%).

Among the Spaniards, the greatgest presence from Madrid with 2,259 pilgrims (20.47%); Andalusia with 2,067 (18.73%); Catalonia with 1,138 (10.3 1%); Valencian Community with 1,130 (10.24%); Galicia with 839 (7.60%); Castilla León with 585 (5.30%); Castilla la Mancha with 562 (5.09%) and the Canary Islands with 499 (4.52%).
