THE CAMINO IS REBORN: 14,828 PILGRIMS IN THE MONTH OF JUNE !! PILGRIMS FROM EUROPE AND AMERICA COME BACK TO ALL WAYS!!

We continue to review the monthly numbers of pilgrims. The Way is reborn, the wishes and dreams of thousands of pilgrims are waiting for any possibility to come … but many are already walking to Compostela!

14,828 pilgrims collected the Compostela: 7,809 men and 7,019 women. Of them 13,278 traveled the Camino on foot; 1,473 by bicycle, 52 sailing, 19 on horseback and 3 in a wheelchair.

Their nationalities were: 10,382 Spain; 1717 Portugal; 440 Italy; 424 Germany; 362 France; 162 USA; 126 Holland; 115 Poland; 72 Switzerland; 72 United Kingdom; 70 Czech Republic; 64 Argentina; 57 Brazil; 55 Mexico; 55 Colombia; 53 Romania; 53 Belgium; 49 Venezuela; 35 Austria; 34 Denmark.

The most traveled was the French Way (8,092); followed by the Central Portuguese (3,129), the Primitivo (758); the English (730); the Camino del Norte (721); Portuguese by the Coast (555); the Vía de la Plata (467); other ways (238); the Winter Way (79) and Fisterra-Muxía (56).

The main starting points were in Galicia: Sarria, Tui, Oporto, Ferrol, Valença, Oviedo, O Cebreiro, León, S.J.P.D.P., Roncesvalles …; but Barcelona, ​​Madrid and the Valencian Community were also starting point.

There were no incidents and the pilgrims who arrived in Santiago did so following the hygiene and safety regulations and respecting the restrictions. In all of Spain and, particularly, in Galicia and Compostela, the situation has improved a lot, being possible to spend the night in all the centers of the Camino, use the hotel services, pick up the Compostela, attend the Pilgrim’s Mass and visit the cathedral. Most of the public and private hostels (albergues) are open.
